Qualifications
MA or Doctorate from a reputable graduate program
Licensed and unlicensed clinicians will be considered

New Perspective also hosts graduate trainees, including:

Our clinical training program runs from early July through May/June of the following year and is designed for motivated junior clinicians seeking strong support alongside challenging and rewarding clinical experiences.
Please note: We do not accept spring-semester-only practicum students.
Training Model
Trainees receive intensive training through:
Weekly individual supervision with a licensed clinical psychologist
Collaboration with the treatment team
Structured didactics, including:
Dr. Cynthia Cabral: Motivational Interviewing, trauma-informed care, and work with higher-risk clients
Dr. Rischa Gottlieb: Assessment of adult neurodivergence
Practicum / Internship Responsibilities
Maintain a caseload of 4–6 individual clients, including intakes, treatment planning, and individual therapy
Receive extensive training in neurodiversity assessment (Autism, ADHD, OCD) and co-occurring disorders (e.g., BPD, Bipolar Spectrum Disorders)
Conduct 3–5 neurodiversity assessments per year under supervision
Co-lead a therapy group (e.g., DBT Skills Group) with an experienced clinician
Conduct group-only intakes
Participate in:
Weekly individual supervision
Weekly DBT consultation team (group supervision)
Practice-wide training opportunities
Learn administrative aspects of private practice, including:
Billing
Initial phone screenings
Client engagement
Online presence and marketing
Schedule Requirements
Program Start: Week of July 1
Program End: Mid-May of the following year
In-person requirement: Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays at the office
DBT Team Meeting: Thursdays, 1:00–2:30 PM (in person or remote)
Individual Supervision Availability: Tuesdays or Fridays
